#MarriedToTheArmy Lindsey's Blog: Episode 4Posted: Mon 12/10/2012 11:09 AM
Think about it: our soldiers run into the line of fire for each other daily. Our husbands would not leave a wounded soldier on the battlefield because they didn't see eye to eye. I feel that as an Army wife, we should live by the same philosophy. True Traci and I had not been on the best of terms, but that stuff is completely irrelevant when a fellow soldier's wife, a soldier who is down range with my soldier watching his back, looking out for him, is in need. Period. Differences go out the window, and all I could think of is how to help her. What can I do? And so I called her to check on her. She sounded stressed, and I wanted to be there for her. That is what we do as Army sisters. When you hurt, I hurt. When you celebrate, I celebrate with you. It's not so much about us as individuals, but the bigger picture: the mission. The mission is to look out for each other, to support each other, to be there for each other in times of need. I kind of relate it to growing up with my own sisters. Sure we called each other names. Sometimes we were downright nasty towards each other. But if anyone from the outside looked sideways at one of my sisters, watch out. That is how I feel about Traci. I may not have liked her or agreed with some of the things she said or did, but regardless, I will always be there for her, as with other wives. COL Goins is such an amazing pillar of strength. He is so genuine, so caring, so loving. I am so thankful to have him as an example for my husband. Yolanda looks at her husband with such love, such respect, such admiration. And she is right. He is a "mighty warrior." I have so much respect for them both. My heart broke for Sara when she attended her first memorial. I remember the nervousness she felt. I felt the same at my first memorial, but I admire her for her strength, courage, and the respect she showed by attending. I am so proud of you. Sara.
