Sara's Blog: Episode 2

This episode starts off on such a somber tone. That first blackout was so incredibly hard for me. I had no idea how to feel or how to react. All I knew was that "somebody had lost their somebody" and it broke my heart. (To see a clip of me talking about the blackout check out the deleted scenes.) I was not at the first memorial because Gunner was sick, I was actually at the ER with him all night the night before and was then at a second doctor getting a second opinion (it was a double ear infection). I was able to go to Mrs. Goins after the memorial thanks to a neighbor that came over and watched the boys. Mrs. Goins actually saw how shaken up I was and called me that night to talk. She told me that it never gets easier but your coping mechanisms do get better. Those words are so true and I will never forget them.

Episode Two is my favorite so far. The Cast Party was fun!  I loved having all of us together. All of our husbands got to know each other and we had a  REALLY good time! The Memorial Ceremony was powerful. Lindsey expressing her feelings about Phil's R&R, and Phil getting emotional when he was having to head back to Afghanistan....very moving.

It is so humbling to read the posts on the social media sites. I thank you for your love, support, and encouragement. It is such a privilege to be a part of Married to the Army: Alaska.

Episode 2 was extremely enlightening. I just discovered that I talk through my nose! Ughhhh..... I need to work on that!!

Let me start by thanking you all for somehow finding me interesting enough to not only watch on tv but to be reading more of my uselessness right now.

I have been overwhelmed by the support, love and kindness that you have all offered me. I am honestly in shock. You're all amazing!!!

Well, here we go...

Rynn's Blog: Episode 1

WOW! I can't believe the show has finally aired. With all the filming that took place, it's easy to forget what we actually filmed. But to see it on TV brings the emotion back instantaneously!

I was Facebooking with a dear friend, Beth, last night. She shared with me how emotional she got while she watched the episode. It gave me chills all over my body and I began to cry, because it's more real for her than for me. Her husband, Pete, just relieved mine in Afghanistan. She will watch this show and go through this deployment with us literally...This is why I participated in this show. Being a military wife and going through deployment after deployment can only be understood by a fellow military spouse. After speaking with her, as I watch this season, my heart will ache for Beth and all of the other spouses whose husbands or wives are currently deployed.

In watching the show I see natural occurrences happening when you put seven strangers together, (men and women both). When you meet someone new, all you know about them is what they tell you. So it's sometimes difficult to understand where someone is coming from or why they are all about what they're about until you have an understanding of what they've been through.
