This is such a surreal experience. Thanks for your support of Married To The Army: Alaska!

Episode 3 does a phenomenal job of capturing the realities of military life during deployment. It gave me a different perspective as I watched what the other ladies go through.

I remember Mother's Day vividly. I cried when I received the 3 AM call that we had two additional KIAs (Killed In Action).

Ok so first let me say, I can't cook. LOL. So yes, I know the cake looked horrid. But I tried. I needed to do something to make myself feel better for Mother's Day, and what better than something loaded with sugar. I guess even after I lost all the weight, I never lost my inner fat girl :) As Blair would say...."so sue me." But really, I don't cook much but I sure can do a mean takeout order. Salina, Rynn, and I were not in this episode much and apparently, a lot of you noticed. I'm flattered, but there are 4 other amazing women whose stories needed to be told! We will see you again in later episodes. So please....keep watching.

This episode has hands down been the hardest for me to watch so far. Having to relive your life is such a weird phenomenon, but having to recall some of the most painful moments is just gut wrenching. This black out was particularly heart breaking  because it did happen on Mother's Day, meaning that on Mother's Day a wife, mother, sister, brother, and family received a phone call saying their loved one was not coming home. I can't imagine their pain -- I can't, and I will never pretend to. When Dusty told me it happened where he was located, it was a punch in the stomach. It made me realize that it could have been him. It could have been my doorbell ringing.

Well this was a tough one to watch. Not only did we have our first KIA, but I had to re-live Phil's departure all over again. But first, I think it is important to note that sometimes we come across not as we intend. That was certainly the case with Traci.

Whew! I really enjoyed watching Episode 2.  The best part was that the 7 of us watched it together. It was rough when the show started. It really did bring back some hard feelings about the memorial service. That was a tough day-I'll never forget it.

Watching the second episode tonight with the cast was a great way to relive moments from the deployment. Unfortunately, growing up an Army Brat and working for the Army for 7 years, I had attended numerous memorial services... but never felt the emotions that I experienced that day. The most sobering moment for me is always the roll call. I don't know how I forgot... but I forgot how much power is carried in the calling of the fallen soldier's name. My eyes are welling up as I speak. I can not begin to comprehend what the family has went through, but my prayers were and are still with the family of our fallen soldier.
