Lindsey
Lindsey

Lindsey was born in Ontario, Canada in 1985. At the age of three, Lindsey's parents divorced and she, her mother, and two sisters relocated to her mother's hometown of Alexandria, Louisiana where she remained until the age of eighteen. Currently, Lindsey is an Associate Broker in Real Estate where she helps military families buy and sell homes in the Anchorage, Eagle River, & Wasilla areas. She has spent the past six years building her business, taking it from duty station to duty station.

In her younger years, Lindsey was awarded a financial scholarship to attend Holy Savior Menard Central High School for both junior high and high school. Attending a private school alongside well-off peers and their parents inspired Lindsey to create a better life for herself. At 16, she secured her first part-time job and worked retail until she was 21. Lindsey met and married a SPC (E-4) when she was 18 and moved to Fort Polk, Louisiana. They were married five years and had one child before divorcing in 2009. In 2008, Lindsey underwent gastric bypass surgery as a last ditch effort to remedy her obesity, which was brought on by emotional eating due to the unhappy marriage. Over the course of a year, Lindsey lost 160 lbs and has managed to keep it off while maintaining both a healthy diet and active lifestyle.

While attending Radiologic Technology clinicals at Northwestern State University, Lindsey purchased her first home and her interest in real estate was piqued. She secured her Louisiana Real Estate license in two weeks time and began selling real estate part-time while commuting five days a week from Fort Polk to Alexandria, Louisiana for clinicals. After incredible success selling real estate, Lindsey soon realized that it was her passion and she ceased pursuing her rad-tech degree and achieved a Bachelor's Degree is Speech Science Language & Technology from Northern Arizona University, as well as both an Associates in Business Administration and Associates in General Studies from Coastline Community College & Northwestern State University. Lindsey continued to work in real estate in Fort Polk, Louisiana, mainly assisting military families with the purchase and sale of homes. She became a top producer prior to relocating to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, and then on to Fort Richardson, Alaska.

While working in real estate in Fort Polk, Lindsey was set up on a blind date with a Major, Phillip, in late 2009. On their first date, Phillip took Lindsey to Natchitoches, Louisiana for dinner and sightseeing and they both quickly discovered they were both very different, yet had a few key points in common. Both Phillip and Lindsey are fraternal twins, both with twin sisters who are registered nurses. Both Phillip and Lindsey are the same religion, and also have birthdays three days apart. Phillip and Lindsey dated for a short time before Phillip's proposal in 2010. Lindsey then faced giving up the career she had fast tracked and her financial independence to follow the man she had only known a few months on yet another military life around the country. Lindsey and Phillip were married four months later in Alexandria, Louisiana in a military ceremony. They relocated to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas two weeks after the wedding while Phillip attended the Command and General Staff College, and also achieving his Master's Degree in Military History from Louisiana State University. During this time, Phillip adopted Lindsey's child from a previous marriage and Lindsey and Phillip also welcomed a new daughter in March of 2011.

Shortly after their daughter's birth, Phillip received orders to report to Fort Richardson, Alaska, where he would serve as the Battalion Executive Officer for 2-377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment. Currently Lindsey is the welcoming chair for the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry, The Special Events Chair for the Fort Richardson's Spouse's Club, the coach of the 2-377th PFAR Battalion softball team, CARE team member for casualty response, and fundraising coordinator for 2-377th PFAR.

Last but not least, Lindsey is forever facing social challenges of military life. It is a culture unlike anyone in the civilian world can understand. As the wife of a Major, Lindsey is frequently far younger than most spouses of fellow Field Grade Officers. She finds it challenging, to say the least, to fit in amongst her peers and fit the mold of a respected Officer's wife. Nonetheless, Lindsey is proud of who she is, where she has come from, and makes no apologies for where she is or where she is going. It is this mentality that gives Lindsey the resilience to push forward and be the best Army wife she can be.
