Lovetown, USA
Meet the Matchmakers: Paul Carrick BrunsonPosted: Mon 07/16/2012 04:00 PM
Name: Paul Carrick Brunson Age: 36 Hometown: Washington, D.C. First Date: I was an early dater...very early. I recall in the 4th grade, after school, walking a girl to the playground and sharing my lunch with her that I saved from earlier that day. We ate, talked and played on the swings. Good times! Best Date: Hands down, the first date with my wife was my all-time best date. It was over 12 years ago, and I still think about it often. We ate at Pizza Hut; I picked cheese out of her braces. Then, we saw Hell Raiser 2, and she talked through the entire movie. We then drove to a nearby beach and ran into a homeless gentleman that did the most amazing magic tricks we had ever seen. Afterward, we sat in my car and fell asleep talking. Thirteen hours total of first date magic. Best date of my life! Worst Date: The worst date I have ever been on was with my wife. I thought it would be funny to tell her I had a very special date planned. So, she got her hair done and dressed up. I then took her to a gas station for dinner. As soon as we sat down I realized the date was the worst idea since Shaq decided to rap – the place stunk like smoke and urine and the food was terrible. To add insult to “my funny” date injury, when I left to use the bathroom, I returned to a crew of truckers hitting on her. Yeah, it was bad. Most Romantic Thing I've Ever Done: To set the context, my wife’s love language is “gifts,” and she loves Valentine's Day. So, while shooting Lovetown, USA in Kingsland, Georgia, on Valentine's, I sent my wife (who was in D.C.) a dozen roses every hour for 11 hours. One dozen for each year we were married! I know, overkill, but when I do something, I like to go big. Three Songs on My "Lovetown" Playlist: "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" by Whitney Houston (because Whitney transitioned while filming and this is my favorite from her); "Sun Is Shining" by Bob Marley & Lee Perry (because reggae flows in my blood); "Nobody’s Perfect" by J. Cole (because his songs were on urban radio 24/7 while filming). Worst Pick-Up Line I've Ever Heard: A client told me she actually heard a guy say, “No, that’s not an iPhone in my pocket, but you can dial-in.” #fail Favorite Fictional Couple: Heathcliff and Clair Huxtable - they were the epitome of love! Best Love Advice I Ever Received: My good friend’s mother told me in high school, "Ain’t nothin’ open after midnight ‘cept legs and waffles houses."
