Inside the Episode: The Love Letter ProjectPosted: Wed 09/26/2012 10:00 AM
It was a task that really stayed with me, because it was one of my first assignments in my new role as a Lovetown ambassador, working directly with Paul and Kailen. It was also easily one of my favorite life experiences to date, as it gave me the chance to be a combination of the Easter Bunny and Fairy Godmother, hiding love letters all over town to remind people of their worth, their wonderfulness and their potential. Hiding a bunch of love letters requires a surprising amount of strategy, and luckily, I had Paul and Kailen to help me figure out the best direction for the letters, as well as where to hide them. I loved this new chapter of spreading love in Lovetown. It was a timely reminder of some of the best moments of my own life. I've always been one of those people to leave little notes, and this task reminded me of all the times I'd left little notes for my ex-husband—in his pockets, in his desk or lunchbox—anywhere I thought he'd find them unexpectedly. Little reminders of how much he was loved. While my marriage didn't last, I still know how important it is to express feelings of affection and appreciation, especially in the face of stage four cancer...and hiding the love letters was an amazing way for me to tap into that. In this week's mission, I didn't peek inside any lunchboxes, but my love letters were nevertheless hidden strategically all over town—in parks, shopping areas, intersections and more. Some were in plain sight, others in less obvious locations. I already can't wait to see who gets the letter I hid at the stop sign by the railroad tracks. It may even help someone to avoid a little road rage after a long day! The love letter project was ultimately so easy to do. Wouldn't it be great if you found a love letter every day of your life, to remind you of how special you are? (And if you didn't get one today, this one is for you.)
