In the last three years, Paul Carrick Brunson (also known as the real-life Hitch) has become internationally recognized as one of the world's most successful matchmakers and relationship coaches. As the pioneering African-American matchmaker in the world, Paul has served clients directly and collectively through live events and social media, matching more than 3,000 people on dates.
Paul holds an MBA from Georgetown University, and his professional career started as an investment banker. He is also a philanthropist who co-founded and chairs a foundation that focuses on school rehabilitations in the United States and Jamaica.
Paul received his life-coaching certification from the International Coach Federation. Next, he immersed himself in the art and science of matchmaking by training with Rachel Greenwald, a Harvard Business School graduate and matchmaker extraordinaire. Lastly, Paul undertook a literary review of hundreds of books and academic journals on psychology, sociology and behavioral science. He then put his acquired learning to the test by practicing matchmaking pro bono throughout 2009.
In addition to academic study, Paul intimately understands the challenges of committed relationships, as he has been happily married to his wife for 10 years. Not only does his knowledge of what it takes to have a happy marriage influence his matchmaking, but also he is able to leverage his professional network to enhance the matches of his clients.
Paul's expertise and unique understanding of love and relationships have made him a sought-after expert on dating, self-actualization and relationships. Paul's advice has been featured in The Washington Post, Essence, Chicago Tribune, AOL Black Voices, ABC news and more. Paul also served as the first male speaker for the 2011 Black Enterprise Women of Power Summit and was the keynote speaker for the 2011 iDate Matchmaking Conference, the largest Internet dating conference in America. Most recently, Paul became a Lifechanger on Dr. Drew Pinsky's syndicated show Dr. Drew's Lifechangers and has been a recurring guest on Anderson Cooper's talk show, Anderson.
