Karrueche Tran Describes Her First Date with Chris Brown

When aspiring model and actress Karrueche Tran first met Chris Brown, she was a personal assistant to a business owner and working as a stylist on the side. After catching the eye of the famous R&B singer during one of her styling gigs, Karrueche and Chris began dating in 2011. Their on-again, off-again relationship elicited relentless personal attacks, but Karrueche says her relationship with Chris is often misunderstood.

For starters, Karrueche says, she wasn't starstruck by Chris. "I mean, it's flattering, of course, but again it wasn't—I've never dated celebrities. I've never been into, like, the whole hoopla of that, so it was just like, 'Okay this is fun. It's interesting. It's new.'"

For their first date, Karrueche says, she and Chris ended the night at Norms, a famous diner-style restaurant in Los Angeles. Although she was out with a celebrity who had garnered major media attention two years prior for the alleged beating of his then-girlfriend, pop star Rihanna, Karrueche says the attention didn't faze her. "Some people recognized him and probably asked for pictures or autographs," she says. "But at the end of the day, he's just a regular person."
