Iyanla's Heartfelt Response to the DMX Premiere

Posted: Mon 04/15/2013 03:30 PM
For years, I knew that my brother drank and smoked marijuana daily. When he stayed in my home, my son found vials we later discovered were containers for crack. Many days I cried for him. On other days, I was so angry with him I barely knew what to do with myself. I had to learn to become willing to say no to his bad behavior rather than passively participating in it by acting like I did not know. When I did, he stopped speaking to me for five years. That was a necessary painful part of our healing process.

We had only been reunited for six months when, on March 30, 2001, the eve of his 50th birthday, after seven months of being clean, I got the call.

The Show That Made Oprah Scream at Her Television

Posted: Thu 11/08/2012 02:50 PM

Here's the truth: Oprah won't say a show is good if she doesn't believe it. Since the premiere of Iyanla: Fix My Life, Oprah has said that there's nothing like it on television. Now, she says, every episode is better than the one before! Watch as Oprah applauds Iyanla's ability to cut through a person's pain and create space for healing. Plus, get a sneak preview of the next eye-opening episode—featuring a minister who cheated on his wife with multiple women in his congregation.

Tune in Saturday, November 10, at 10/9c.

Monday Matters: Faith and Experience

Posted: Mon 10/29/2012 01:55 PM
Today’s Monday Matters is an excerpt from my book, Until Today.

This book of 365 daily devotionals supports the time-honored adage, “Why put off until tomorrow what you can do today?”  Beloveds, I know how easy it is to stay stuck in old sentiments, resentments, beliefs, decisions, agreements, judgments, and ideas that may have become habitual.

Through these devotions I hope to show readers that the easiest way to create change is to simply shift your attitude—today. We often work so hard to get the things we want that we miss the fact that it is the landscape of the inner world that stands between us and true happiness.

Faith and Experience

You must have faith and experience in order to live life fully.

You must have faith that all of the things you expect from life are possible for you.

You must have faith that no matter what life brings you, you will be able to handle it.
