I have one of the best makeup artists in the business. I am always inquiring and concerned about making sure she stays working doing makeup jobs. 

This extraordinary, talented woman and mother of two young teenage boys gets up at 4 am...

...and drives two hours to work on our TV Show and sometimes drives home that same day exhausted and trying to stay awake at the wheel. Sometimes it is required for her to travel, which means she will be away two weeks at a time on a job. She has a support system that allows her to make arrangements with friends and family to care for her boys while she earns a living that provides for their lives.

I made a gift of an IPad I no longer used to my friend and makeup artist. I received an unexpected voicemail from her younger son thanking me not only for the IPad but for being so kind to his mother, for he knows how hard his moms works.  I was moved by this young teenager's awareness and sensitivity to make such call on his own accord.

This kind of a sacrifice is made everyday by women all over the world for their children.

And yes, it does hurt to know that all your hard work and sacrifices go unappreciated sometimes by the person you made these sacrifices for.

The glamour of being a supermodel can be overshadowed and misunderstood by the hard work and sacrifices that one has to make relative to their family.

One can only hope that time and the lessons of life will show them that all that shines isn't gold...
