Amy's issues with food started in elementary school stemming from years of emotional, physical and sexual abuse. At a young age she turned to food for comfort and has been heavy since the third grade. At her highest weight of 411 lbs, Amy decided to have gastric bypass surgery. She lost nearly 80 pounds, but was unable to maintain the prescribed meal plan and began gaining weight again. Her relationship with her family is turbulent, especially with her mother who she says has always been embarrassed by Amy???s weight. And as a single mother of a 14 year-old girl, Amy worries that her behaviors and emotional issues are being passed on to her daughter. Amy says her only solace in life has been food but she is desperate to find a way to deal with her issues and stop relying on her compulsive over eating as a way to cope with life.
