The One Obsession Sarah Jessica Parker Shares with Carrie Bradshaw

Aired on 05/23/2001 | CC tv-pg
Throughout the seven-year run of the hit series Sex and the City, Sarah Jessica Parker starred as the charming and ever-stylish Carrie Bradshaw, a New York–based relationship columnist. When Sarah and her co-stars visited The Oprah Show to talk fashion, she admitted to having one "problem" that she and the fictional Carrie both shared: a weakness for buying shoes.

"I don't have to dig very deep to understand this affinity she has for shoes," Sarah said about her character's obsession.

Sarah said that her own fixation with footwear started when she was just a little girl. Limited to just two pairs per year, she recalled "becoming intoxicated by the smell of the fresh leather" when her family did have occasion to shop for new shoes. Like her character Carrie, Sarah has a special love for high-end Manolo Blahnik designer shoes—a less-expensive pair of which can easily cost more than $600.

Oprah asked Sarah to come clean about how many Manolo Blahniks she possessed, and Sarah's answer will make you wonder where she possibly keeps them all!
