The Chicken Recipe That Won a Million Dollars

Aired on 05/04/2006 | CC tv-pg
On a 2006 episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show, Oprah featured the people behind the big ideas that made them millions overnight. Stay-at-home mom Anna Ginsberg submitted her Baked Chicken and Spinach Stuffing recipe to the Pillsbury Bake-Off, and walked away with the million-dollar grand prize. This left Oprah wondering what Anna did to make this common cuisine stand out to the judges.

"Now, when I heard about this—the producers were telling me about this—they said, 'Do you want to do this?' I said, 'I want to know because I make chicken all the time. And it ain't million-dollar chicken,'" Oprah explained. "There are only so many things you can do with a chicken. So I said, 'I want to know what the heck kind of recipe she had that got her $1 million for the chicken.'"

Oprah would soon find out, as Anna walked her through the easy and fun recipe. Anna paired frozen spinach and waffle sticks with a savory baked chicken to create her own twist on the classic chicken-and-waffle combination. Take Oprah's advice and make your own million-dollar chicken at home. Plus, see how Oprah reacts when she tries her first bite of the award-winning dish.
