On September 4, 1989, Oprah brought superstar athletes onto her stage for an all-star season premiere. NFL MVPs Boomer Esiason and Dan Marino graced the stage alongside NBA star Magic Johnson. Oprah closed the episode with footage of her run with Olympic gold medalist Florence Griffith-Joyner, then known as the fastest woman in the world. Oprah kept pace but got some advice from Flo-Jo's then-husband and coach, Al Joyner. "Just stay relaxed," he said. |
