Since the weather was so nice this week I started walking to work again. (ok, no laughter please:) When I walk to work I take a different route then when I drive. I’d forgotten just how many people are out and about scurrying on this route in the mornings. The sidewalks are loaded with people traffic. The streets are jammed with buses, taxis and people in their cars on their way to start their day. People walking their dogs, pushing their strollers; I enjoy the hustle and bustle of it all. I look at people and wonder where they’re headed, what they do for a living, are they rushing because they’re eager to get to work or because they think Starbuck’s might run out of coffee? It’s the “energy” of this city and its energizing!
I’ve noticed, well, I think I’ve always “noticed” but now I really “see” the people on the streets, taxi drivers and people in their cars driving while talking on their cell phones. Pedestrians are everywhere and yet drivers talking on their phones. I’ll admit it; I used to do this too. It’s such a stupid thing to do that to be honest I’m ashamed that it took other people’s misery to enlighten me. If you weren’t able to catch our No Phone Zone show, go to www.oprah.com and read about the devastation that can result from driving while texting or talking on the phone. If you, your family or friends text, talk or email while driving you’ve got to get on board and take Oprah’s No Phone Zone pledge http://www.oprah.com/questionaire/ipledge.html?id=4.
Check out the video below of Freddy, our sales ambassador at the store taking the pledge!
