In October 1986, when Roseanne Barr
was just starting out on the comedic circuit, she made her first Oprah Show
appearance during our comedy showcase (which also featured a young Jerry Seinfeld and Richard Lewis!). Her act covered everything from motherhood to the plight of a housewife—or domestic goddess, as she referred to it.
"I never get out of the house. I never go no place. I never have no fun ever, ever, ever because I'm a housewife. I hate that word. I hate the word homemaker too. I want to be called domestic goddess," Roseanne joked.
