A year after I launched the book club, a woman who appeared on the show said something I'll never forget: "Before I joined the book club, I had never read an entire book." Reading has always been an open window to other worlds. Had I not been taught to read at an early age, I'd be an entirely different person. Thanks to books, I knew there was another kind of life.
