Martha

Martha
Best Friends Animal Society started as a special haven in southern Utah for about 2,000 dogs, cats and other animals who have come to the sanctuary from shelters and rescue groups across the country. These animals have special needs—they might need help getting around, extra medicines or a home that has no other pets or children. They are not for everyone but with the right amount of love and attention they can be a valued member of your family. Best Friends works hard to find good homes for the animals whose beauty runs a lot more than just skin-deep.

Martha was rescued out of Hurricane Katrina and lived in a Tennessee animal shelter before coming to Best Friends. Whenever she gets a visitor, she gives kisses and begs to be taken home. She'll gladly roll on her belly for a tickle the moment she meets you. Martha would be excellent for a family with children or a single person. Her manners are good, and she's great with everybody, but she does need to be the only dog in the house.

Captain Muley

Captain Muley
This tender-eyed dog was found at the bottom of a cliff, unable to lift his head. Captain Muley was very depressed when he arrived at Best Friends. He was starving, he was missing a femoral head bone in his leg, probably from birth, and he didn't look like he wanted to go on. Within a few days, things started to turn around, and Captain Muley has gotten playful and mouthy. Gradually, he should be on his way to complete mobility. Can he take the next step and find himself a happy home?

Poodle Pop

Poodle Pop
This 7-year-old lived at a rescue group in Texas, but when his foster parent suddenly moved, the group couldn't find him a last-minute home. Poodle Pop is terrific with all people, including mature children. He's house-trained, good on leash and loves taking walks. He likes some dogs and not others— prefering the mellow type and isn't too wild about cats. But if you would give a people-friendly, super-polite dog half a chance, he promises to be your very own, faithful little Poodle Pop!

If you are interested in adopting Poodle Pop, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Grover

Grover
Grover has been at Best Friends for six years and lost his home long ago because of nervous anxiety. He would freak out when his person left home, and thunderstorms—don't even talk about thunderstorms! And who could blame him—early in his life, someone tied him to a tree trunk and abandoned him. That's why he doesn't want you to walk away. He's on medication now, and it makes him a thousand times better. But he'll always have separation anxiety and should not to be left alone too often.

Grover is house-trained and extra-affectionate. His little face gets so sad when nobody is paying him any attention. He's a terrific walker and first-rate cuddler. He's not so great with cats, but he sometimes likes other dogs.

If you are interested in adopting Grover, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Shorty

Shorty
Shorty's previous owners simply picked up and abandoned him. This 2-year-old's favorite hobbies are snuggling and riding in the car. If you don't mind a little snoring at night, this fully house-trained cutie with excellent manners is for you. He tends to be good with other dogs, but not cats.

If you are interested in adopting Shorty, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Cedy

Cedy
Eight-year-old Cedy is a very thoughtful dog who's been waiting to have a friend to call her own for a very long time. Cedy is a big dog who's affectionate with everyone in a nice, easygoing way. She's on a little arthritis medicine, but otherwise, she's very healthy for her age. Cats might not be a good match for her, but other dogs are just fine.

If you are interested in adopting Cedy, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Clarence

Clarence
This 12-year-old border collie mix was dumped at a shelter where he would have been put to sleep. He's on medication and is a gentle old thing, nice to absolutely everybody. Clarence is good with other dogs, too.

If you are interested in adopting Clarence, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Reuben

Reuben
Reuben likes to act like the tough guy on the street but is a sensitive little soul who likes to snuggle and is scared of the rain. He'll hide under his bed during a thunderstorm! Rueben was picked up by animal control long ago and has been searching for a home ever since. He's about 6 years old, and it's probably best if he's the only dog at home. He's obedient, well-behaved, affectionate and anxious to impress you.

If you are interested in adopting Reuben, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Young Huskgay

Young Huskgay
This 11-year-old purebred Siberian husky lost his home when his person died. He's been looking for someplace to belong again ever since. He's very healthy, energetic and highly intelligent. He loves playing with toys, sleeping in bed with you (but you don't have to let him!), going in the water and taking walks. He would do very well in an obedience class, and it wouldn't be a bad idea either, because his breed can be a little stubborn and mischievous! He's always people-oriented and sweet.

Huskgay is looking for a home without cats, other small animals or super-small children in it. Dogs around his size or bigger are just fine.

If you are interested in adopting Young Huskgay, please fill out the online dog adoption form to www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Buddha

Buddha
Buddha's old family left this affectionate 6-year-old behind when they moved. She is extra-well-behaved, sweet and huggable. She seems to do well with male dogs—though they should meet her first, to be sure.

If you are interested in adopting Buddha, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Willow

Willow
Six-year-old Willow spent most of her life tied up. No running or playing, just boredom. And after she gave her family a litter of puppies, they decided they didn't need the big one anymore and so they gave her up. Now she's so excited to be able to run around at last! She'll run and play and beg for attention all day if you'll let her. She's a great, big beautiful 70-pound wants-to-be-a-lap-dog dog. She likes it when you brush her, enjoys going to school and would be a fun playmate for big kids. The more activities, the better! Willow gets along well with most dogs—best to try them out and see.

If you are interested in adopting Willow, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Cupid

Cupid
Cupid spent his whole life chained beside 50 other dogs. All he could hope for was that someone would throw him some food—and that he could get some before the others ate it all up. He never knew any life off that chain until he was rescued, but he still doesn't know what a real home is like. He gives kisses to people all the time now and likes rolling on his back to get his belly rubbed. He knows a few basic commands and is great to take with you on a long walk. And if he happens to fall asleep in your lap, watch out—this cutie pie snores!

If you are interested in adopting Cupid, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Marley

Marley
Marley is a big, cuddly lap dog who loves to play in the water, eat (he's on an inexpensive thyroid medication to control his weight) and will be wiggling from head to toe when you come home from work. His front legs are bow-legged, which makes him so cute when he runs. Marley is fine with other dogs and responsible kids but will "talk" if you leave him outside in the yard.

If you are interested in adopting Marley, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Happy

Happy
Happy is a friendly 12-year-old whose favorite hobbies are snuggling and lounging. He gets along just fine with other dogs and cats. He'll protect you a little and bark if he thinks he's helping you look out for yourself or the house. Mostly, he's just a doll. Very well-behaved and house-trained. He's in perfect health, just 40 pounds.

If you are interested in adopting Happy, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Tony

Tony
Tony's previous family dumped him off at a shelter for the crime of "getting old"! And it wasn't a no-kill shelter, either. It's true that Tony is more than 12 years old, and he has to take a little heart medication. But he's a cairn terrier and only 16 pounds. Dogs that size can live a very long time!

Tony is very quiet—not a yapper at all. He's good with other dogs that are nice and gentle, like he is. He'd love to have a home with a doggie door for frequent access to the outside, and no super-small kids.

If you are interested in adopting Tony, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Yogi

Yogi
Four-year-old Yogi was abandoned after he fell out of the back of a pickup truck. Best Friends put Yogi back together after the fall, and now he makes a both a great playmate and couch potato. Visitors have noted that he's "house-trained," "polite," "cuddly" and "responsive." He pulls a little on his leash, and sometimes he's shy when you first meet him. He's fine with cats and likes female dogs that are around his size or bigger.

If you are interested in adopting Yogi, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Wolfgang

Wolfgang
Wolfgang has plenty of energy and likes to play ball and go swimming. He's good in the car and loves being on leash. He's just fine with other dogs and very loyal. Seven-year-old Wolfgang's not as young as he used to be, so he takes a little medicine for his hips.

If you are interested in adopting Wolfgang, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Vienna

Vienna
Nine-year-old Vienna lost her home because she's a little afraid of strange men. She didn't like her owner's new fiancé, and that's what landed her at her first shelter. The shelter confirmed that she would get scared when cornered by strange men and behave very inappropriately. She also has a slight limp. But now that she's made some friends, it's easy to see what a friendly, soft-hearted little girl she is. Just 40 pounds, she's house-trained and knows "sit," "down," "stay" and "come". She's intelligent and sensitive. She promises she'll love you and all your other furry friends at home if you'll be the one to finally to pick her.

If you are interested in adopting Vienna, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Captain Kirk

Captain Kirk
Seven-year-old Captain Kirk came from a rescue group in California that couldn't find this laid-back, easygoing, polite dog a home. He's gentle with everyone he meets, but was born with some special needs. He has a slight neurological condition that causes weakness in his hind end. He's house-trained, but may have occasional accidents because of control issues back there—but it's not often. He has so much to give to someone willing to take in a special needs guy like him.

If you are interested in adopting Captain Kirk, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
Little One and Sedona

Little One and Sedona
Sedona (beagle mix) and Little One (terrier mix) became homeless when their owner passed away. Their home has disappeared, their friends have all disappeared, and they don't know what's going on! They are both fine with other dogs, and fine with cats, too. They're house-trained, and they're so affectionate with people! They're getting up there in years at 10 years old, and Little One needs a little ear medicine. And they're better with big children than with little children. Their favorite pastime is snuggling and grooming each other —so cute!

If you are interested in adopting Little One and Sedona, please fill out the online dog adoption form at www.bestfriends.org/atthesanctuary/animals/dogAdoption.cfm
