Sidney Poitier discusses fate and luck.

In 1946, Sidney was an understudy with New York's American Negro Theatre. On opening night, the lead actor, a young Harry Belafonte, couldn't perform. At the last minute, Sidney took his place. As it turned out, a major casting director was in the audience and made him an offer.
