In the November issue of O, The Oprah Magazine, actress Emma Thompson said of One Hundred Years of Solitude, "After my father died, the book that sort of saved my life was Gabriel García Márquez's novel, One Hundred Years of Solitude. I think books are like people: they turn up in your life exactly when you most need them."
