Venezuelan-born fashion designer Carolina Herrera says reading is her passion and this novel is one of her great loves.

"I read One Hundred Years of Solitude when it came out in 1968, and it was amazing. It's the most magical book I have ever read. The first time I met [Gabriel García Márquez] was through the pages of his fantastic book. Later, I met him in person and I thought he was brilliant, charming and very witty. I think he has influenced the world."
