To experience a greater healing, write seven blessings to your father for seven days in a row. This will open your heart and move you to a deeper place of compassion.
You don't need to forgive your father for leaving. You need to forgive yourself for believing there's something lacking in you because he wasn't there. What do you believe was lacking in you because he left? What will you replace that thought with?
The role of a father is to be proud of his son, provide for him and show him how to be a man. Who does that for you?
Many fatherless sons don't know how to connect with their own children. For instance, when was the last time you shared a meal with your son? How about the last meal you cooked together? What needs to change in order for you to cook a meal together?
Have you ever attended any of your son's parent-teacher conferences? When? Write down your son's next parent-teacher conference and what you'll have to do to make sure you can be there.
Have you ever showed up at school to see your son...just because? When? Could you do it (or do it again) this week?
