Lesson 20: Joy Rising (Surprise)
November 04, 2011
These workbook questions were curated by Martha Beck. The goal is to continue the conversation and go deeper into the lesson. Your answers are private, no one else can see them.
What are the three things you would grab in a fire? Did you spend time today consciously enjoying those things?
What kind of play brought you joy as a child? Coloring with friends? Climbing trees? Going to the circus? Plan to play in a similar way at least every other week from now on.
Write down a moment when you felt joy. Recall it vividly. Now add another memory of a different joyful experience. Then add another. See how the tide of joy rises with each memory you add.
Today, do three things that might bring joy to a total stranger. Don't care how they react—enjoy the offering.
