Does Your Child Feel Invisible?

Season 4 Episode 411
Aired on 09/28/2014 | CC tv-14
Dr. Shefali Tsabary, a clinical psychologist and bestselling author, sat down with a group of children between the ages of 11 and 17 to find out what they're parents are doing right...and what they could do better. Eleven-year-old Sam opened up and said his parents don't really understand him.

"It makes me feel like I'm just no one," Sam says. "I'm just like a ghost, not even in the real world. Just not even alive."

Sam's mom, Kim, hears her son's admission while sitting in the Lifeclass audience. His words bring her to tears. "That's my heart," she says. "I didn't know he felt like that."

In the above video, Dr. Shefali reveals why parents are unsettled when their children express deep emotion. Plus, find out why some children feel invisible.
