You may have skipped a grade in school, but in real life, there is no such thing, Dr. Robin says. In everyday life, you must first learn the lesson, pass the test and then move on. And if you miss an assignment, you have to repeat the lesson—over and over again, until you pass, Dr. Robin says.
Homework wasn't fun when we were children, and it's not fun as adults either. But no matter what issue you may be facing—a failing marriage, financial disarray, a miserable job—it's important to do your homework to try to resolve it. Dr. Robin says you must be open to reading books, seeking therapy or finding solutions to your problems.
"You want to become available to all of the information that's out there…and do your homework assignments," Dr. Robin says.
