![]() When Dr. Angelou talks to legendary singers Gladys Knight and Nancy Wilson, the result is a soulful melody of stories through song. Both Gladys and Nancy were among 25 African-American women Oprah honored in 2006 as a "Legend." Now Dr. Angelou explores how these female artists and others paved the way for the many singers who would follow in their footsteps.
Best known as the lead singer of the musical group Gladys Knight and the Pips, Gladys has enjoyed an illustrious 50-plus year career in the music industry. She salutes the grand women of jazz with her newest CD, Before Me. Then, Nancy talks about her newest collection, Turned to Blue. The title track sets Dr. Angelou's poem "My Life Has Turned to Blue" to music.
