Dr. Robin says that right now, there are young people in your life who are watching you and looking to you for inspiration and guidance—your kids, your nieces and nephews, perhaps your students or members of your church. Have you considered how your behavior might be affecting them? When they look at you, will they see hope and encouragement? Or will they see fear and negativity?

Whether you realize it or not, Dr. Robin says you're making a big impression on these young minds, and that your actions, words and choices will either lift them up or bring them down. "You can either empower the young people in your life, in your family, in your community to go in the way that gives them hope for a future that they're excited about," Dr. Robin says. "Or they can become … full of despair, full of pain and really lacking hope for what tomorrow could bring and what really lives for them in the gift of today."
