Three celebrated African-American sopranos join Dr. Angelou for a spirited discussion on classical music and careers in opera.
Jessye Norman, a dramatic soprano, captured audiences in opera houses around the world at age 23. For nearly four decades she has been considered one of the best-known vocalists in classical music. Kathleen Battle, a lyric soprano born and raised in Ohio, has also enjoyed a successful and famed career, performing with the best opera companies and orchestras since the 1970s. And one of opera's newest divas, Angela Brown, a Verdi soprano, debuted at New York's Metropolitan Opera in 2004 to rave reviews. She is now firmly planted in the world of opera as a star musician.
The three women share their stories of success and love of the arts as Dr. Angelou shares some of her favorite performances from each of the three divas.
