Gayle King
Tuesday is Gayle's day to chat about topics in the news that she is following, from celebrity happenings to breaking news stories. Gayle is joined by her daughter Kirby, who talks about attending the Live Earth concert in New Jersey.

Live Earth was a series of concerts held on July 7, 2007, at locations around the world with the goal of raising awareness about global warming. Kirby says that she has always been interested in stopping global warming, so attending one of the concerts was something she was drawn to. Musicians ranging from The Police to Kayne West preformed and actor/environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio and former Vice President Al Gore promoted awareness about environmentally friendly practices. "I think the fact that we are talking about it and it is getting so much media [attention] and press [is a really good thing]," Kirby says. "The whole point was to raise awareness, and it has definitely done that."

Kirby shares a few tips that she says she learned while at the Live Earth concert:
  • Choose biodegradable, disposable silverware made from corn and potatoes.
  • Unplug cell phone and other electronic chargers when not in use.
  • Turn off computers and other electronics when not in use.
  • Replace regular lightbulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs.
  • Bank online.
  • Use public transportation.
