Do you ever run away from the truth because it is too painful to face? Dr. Robin says pretending the truth isn't real to avoid grief won't make you feel better in the long run. "Sometimes [the truth] is painful, but there is something called 'growing pains,'" Dr. Robin says.
Once you "grow" past the pain that the truth can sometimes brings, Dr. Robin says the truth will set you free. "Even when the truth has been painful and it has made me ache and it has made me sometimes lose sleep at night, ultimately, as I embraced the truth … then I learned that I could take action and figure out what I needed to do," she says.
