Dr. Maya Angelou
In honor of the Thanksgiving holiday, Dr. Angelou talks to people who have learned to give some of the best gifts—their creativity and resourcefulness. She is joined by Ryan Hreljac and Akana Jimmy, two young men whose inspiring story is chronicled in the book Ryan and Jimmy: And the Well in Africa That Brought Them Together. The book recounts how then six-year-old Ryan started a movement that has built more than 200 wells across Africa and brought his Ugandan pen pal, Akana, to his home country of Canada.

Dr. Angelou also speaks with students who learned how to understand the horrific number of deaths during the Holocaust by collecting millions of paper clips. Known as The Paper Clips Project, what began as a simple middle school project evolved into a monument for Holocaust victims, and has helped build awareness for the suffering of many different groups in our nation and around the world.
