As your children progress through life, they may one day question the purpose of their lives on earth. Rabbi Shmuley says it is important for them to understand that God brought them into the world for a reason. He discusses the importance of teaching your children about God, which he outlines in Chapter 10 of his book 10 Conversations You Need to Have with Your Children.

Rabbi Shmuley says talking about God doesn't necessarily mean it's about religion or spirituality. Rather, it's about being positive and making your child feel that he or she was born for a purpose. "The 'God conversation' is meant to negate that feeling of purposelessness; that life is nothing but an accident," Rabbi Shmuley says.

Remind your children that in their darkest moments, they are being listened to. "It's about teaching a child that there's an eye that sees and there's an ear that listens," he says. In addition, let them know they are special.
