If you are the head of a company, Dr. Robin says it's your responsibility to make sure the people you are leading are given the information they need to make the best choices on the job. If you discover that important tasks are falling through the cracks, Dr. Robin says you need to take responsibility for the problem. "I want a boss who will step up to the plate, and when they haven't done their part … say 'Yikes—it was me who dropped the ball,'" she says.
Likewise, in your own personal life, it's important to step up and take responsibility, Dr. Robin says. "Look in your own life and see what is it and where is it that needs your attention," she says. "It needs to hear the words, 'I'm sorry and I'll do what it takes.'"
