Just because you're no longer in your 20s doesn't mean you have to go under the knife to look younger. According to fashion expert Charla Krupp, there are simple changes you can make in your wardrobe and your beauty routine to get that youthful glow. Gayle talks with Charla about her book How Not to Look Old: Fast and Effortless Ways to Look 10 Years Younger, 10 Pounds Lighter, 10 Times Better.
Charla says appearance unfortunately does matter in today's society. She says a woman can not afford to do nothing as she ages. "We, as women, live in a culture that is youth obsessed," Charla says. "It is not as bad for men as it is for women—we really have to look out for ourselves and give ourselves a competitive edge and look as young as we can possibly be." If you want to retain that youthful look but are looking for ways besides resorting to plastic surgery, there are simple solutions she says could take years off your age. She says it's every detail that makes a difference, from your shoes to your jeans to your nails. "The right pair of jeans is the single most young and hip piece of clothing." She also shares other simple tips that make a huge difference, such as getting your eyebrows professionally shaped. "Brows are the instant facelift," she says. "The lift that you can get from correctly arched brows is just gorgeous." Most importantly, Charla says looking young is about feeling good. "I think we've seen how important it is for everyone around you to respect you, and they do that when you look good," she says. "When you look good, you feel good—it's all connected. You need to get in a place where you can pass the mirror and say, 'You know what? I look fabulous!'" she says.
