Dr. Robin Smith

Do you feel like you might offend people by telling them how you really feel? Perhaps you know what you want say to someone but you always end up giving them the edited version of your thoughts.

Dr. Robin says when you edit what you say, you can't have a real conversation. "You won't get what you want because you won't have communicated what you were really trying to get across," she says.

If you always hide away your true feelings, Dr. Robin says you risk lashing out at others once you reach a tipping point. "Find the balance of putting your heart in the matter as well as using your head, and then you can create something that is meaningful," she says. "Pick your words, choose your words wisely, but make sure your truth is what comes out."
