If you're in a sticky situation with a friend or family member, how do you handle it? All too often, Dr. Robin says people walk away from a situation, avoid one another until some time has passed and then avoid bringing up the issue again. "You think by pushing away the 'big thing' it is going to get rid of it…but it is not," she says.
You're hurting your relationship by avoiding the underlying issue in an argument, Dr. Robin says. "If you want to have a really good relationship with someone else and also with yourself, you've got to stop avoiding the hard things in life." Address an issue head on and your mind and soul will be at ease, Dr. Robin says. "Stand up to whatever it is you need to face and I guarantee you it will make the journey much easier."
