R&B singer Robin Thicke hit the top of the charts in 2007 with his second album, The Evolution of Robin Thicke. Now, he's back with his third album, Something Else. Gayle talks with Robin about his successful career and about what's in store for him personally and professionally.
Robin says Something Else offers his fans a mix of genres that speak to him. "For me, I'm a soul singer at heart and I love soul singers, but I [also] love the freedom of rock 'n' roll," he says. Fans and radio stations are excited about the new album, and Robin says he still cannot believe it when he hears his song on the radio. "It still really doesn't get old for me," he says. "Maybe because I haven't had that since I was 16 like some of these other artists who are born into hearing yourself on the radio. You probably get used to it, but for me it is still very fresh."
After three years of marriage, Robin's relationship with his wife, actress Paula Patton, is still going as strong as his career. He says he wants a big family but isn't in a hurry to start. Instead, he's enjoying a lot of alone time with his wife and is looking forward to building a successful career. "I am very ambitious," he says. "I have a lot of goals and desires and things I haven't even gotten close to accomplishing, but I am so grateful and thankful to be able to do what I do."
