Scott Baio and Gayle
In the VH1 reality television show Scott Baio Is 45…and Single, viewers get to take a closer look at the personal life of actor Scott Baio as he embarks on a soul-searching quest to find love and get over his fear of commitment. Gayle talks to Scott about his motives for doing the show and what he's learned along the way.

Scott is best known for his roles as Chachi Arcola on Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi and Charles on the hit 1980s sitcom Charles in Charge. He says he agreed to take on his latest role and play himself in order to figure out why he's still unmarried at 45—before it's too late. "I didn't want to be the guy in the bar that I used to look at, who was 50 [and] still out bird-dogging chicks," Scott says. "I thought, 'That guy's pathetic,' and I just didn't want to be that guy."

In each episode, Scott works with life-coach Dr. Alison Arnold, otherwise known as "Doc Ali," to sift through his sordid past and get to the bottom of his bad-boy behavior. While Scott says he dated a lot of women in his day—including celebrities Pamela Anderson, Nicollette Sheridan, Heather Locklear and Denise Richards—he says his relationship skills were lacking. "The more I was a jerk, the more women wanted to be with me," Scott says.

With Doc Ali's help, Scott must go through a series of challenges that include confronting ex-girlfriends and practicing abstinence for eight weeks, which he says have been illuminating. "It hit me one day," Scott says. "[My ex-girlfriends] can't all have a problem—it's impossible. The one common denominator is me!" Viewers can follow Scott's journey to see if he will commit to his current girlfriend, Renee, or live out the rest of his days as a washed-up bachelor.
