![]() When someone pulls out of a parking lot in front of you, do you lay on your car horn in anger or do you give them a friendly toot to let them know that you are there? Dr. Robin says the road rage that people often exude through their horn can be terrifying. "What is this thing about laying on your horn? Laying on it as if you are calling out every curse word?" she asks.
While it may be scary to almost be involved in an accident or frustrating to have someone cut you off, Dr. Robin says that laying on the horn doesn't solve much. "Don't use your horn as a weapon—use it as a tool, for connection, safety and respect," she says. "When somebody has made a mistake … give them a break and be grateful for the moment of grace that has protected you so many times." Published on June 25, 2007
