Dr. Robin Smith

Dr. Robin asked a good friend how she was planning to celebrate Labor Day, and her friend gave her a list of things she had to do. Even though she often complains about how she needs rest, Dr. Robin's friend admitted that she was keeping herself busy on Labor Day because she was afraid to feel alone on a holiday typically spent with family and friends.

Labor Day isn't just about resting from your physical labor—it's also about a rest from all the burdens you carry, Dr. Robin says. Make room for some rest from all that has made you weary, she says. "Not just physically, but financially, spiritually, relationally—there are so many ways that we can wear ourselves out and wear ourselves down," Dr. Robin says. "Figure out how to create balance with things that have been tragic and broken your heart."
