Do you treat your son differently than you do your daughter? Dr. Robin says that time and again she has seen parents pick up their little girl and kiss her when she falls, but they will ignore their little boy or treat him with less sensitivity when he takes a tumble.
Dr. Robin says in order to build young boys' spirits and characters, we have to treat them as gently as we treat girls. Whether you have a son, a grandson or know of a boy in your neighborhood, Dr. Robin says you should think twice about how you speak to him and how you treat him. "If you want the adult men in your life to be whole and full, then you are going to have to start caring about the young men in your life," she says. "You can help them grow and develop into whole, creative, strong and vibrant men."
