Is your closet full of clothes that you no longer wear? Is your pantry overflowing with canned goods that you haven't eaten? Dr. Robin says when you have something that you are not using—no matter what it is—you need to either put it away, give it away or throw it away. "Be wise with what you have. Be wise with what you are using," she says. "When you have something and you are not using it, you are telling the universe that you don't have the room to be blessed with more."
How do you determine whether you should put it away, give it away or throw it away? Dr. Robin offers these guidelines:
Put it away: If the item still has use and there is a specific and purposeful reason for you to keep it, then Dr. Robin says you should put it away—maybe in storage.
Give it away: If the item still has use, but you know that it is something you don't really need, Dr. Robin says you should give it away and bless somebody with something they really need.
Throw it away: If the item has simply run its course and lasted as long as possible, Dr. Robin says it's time to let it go and throw it away.
