Gayle King
Gayle recently returned from a two-week trip to South Africa, where she visited the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. She calls best friend Oprah, who is still in South Africa, to get the scoop on the latest happenings at the school. Then, Oprah fills Gayle in on what she calls her "best surprise ever."

Oprah reports that a cultural arts week is in full swing, a weeklong event during which students participate in fun and educational workshops each day with the help of special guest instructors. Oprah says a few highlights have included cooking classes with her chef, Art Smith, and lessons on health with fitness expert Donna Richardson.

The students also got the surprise of a lifetime when Oprah secretly arranged a special concert and hip-hop workshop with R&B singer Chris Brown. Oprah says the unsuspecting students—who are all huge fans of the 17-year-old heartthrob—were told they would be seeing a movie in the school's theater. Little did they know that Chris was waiting to surprise them backstage.

When Chris made his entrance, Oprah says the girls went wild. Many were brought to tears, and a few of the girls even fainted! "I've never seen anything like that in my whole life," she says. For most of the girls, it was also the first live concert they had ever witnessed. "This is a whole new life experience," Oprah says.

Hands down, Oprah says it was her best surprise ever—and the girls thought so, too! "I've done a lot of surprises, but all the girls said it was my best surprise!"
