Oprah's Big Give follows 10 everyday people crisscrossing the nation to change the lives of total strangers. Gayle talks with executive producer Ellen Rakieten about the show and how she feels it's influencing the lives of others.
Ellen says she is proud of the show and what its viewers are learning from the whole experience. "What I am really the most excited about is that exactly what we wanted to happen happened," she says. "People all around America were inspired." She says the show's concept is thrilling because it makes people realize they really do want to help others. "The fact is, [the first episode] proved that America wants to be uplifted and feel good," she says. "They want to see something on television that is celebratory." As for the contestants, Ellen says there were many different types of personalities, but at the end of the day they all embraced the same goal: to help others. "It's is about giving and not getting," she says. "You get more for yourself when you give."
