Dr. Robin is at V to the Tenth, an event marking the 10-year anniversary of V-Day, a global movement to end violence against women. Dr. Robin talks with Caren Yanis, executive director of Oprah's Angel Network, and Sherry-Lea Bloodworth, director of the Hancock County Housing Resource Center in Mississippi, about their efforts to help others.
Caren talks with Dr. Robin about the efforts of the Angel Network to help those less fortunate. By working to build communities, provide access to education and much more, Caren and her team are helping women and families across the world. "So much of the work we do is about the angels who are around us," Caren says. "It's a network of people working together who are focused on creating social change and affecting the fabric of life." Dr. Robin also talks to Sherry-Lea Bloodworth, director of the Hancock County Housing Resource Center in Mississippi, about how she helped evacuate those in need during Hurricane Katrina. A New Orleans native and a single mother, Sherry-Lea had already evacuated the city when the hurricane struck, but she decided to go back and help rescue others, assisting them in relocating them to safer shelters and getting the proper medical attention they needed. The former ballet teacher says that through her evacuation efforts, helping others became her mission and passion in life. "I look back and think God had to have led me," Sherry-Lea says.
