Olympians Natalie Coughlin and Michael Phelps
Gayle King

All week long, Gayle is sitting down with some of the top U.S. athletes who competed at the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games. She starts by talking with swimmers Natalie Coughlin and Michael Phelps about their record-breaking finishes at the Olympics.

Natalie became the first American female athlete to win six medals in a single Olympics and the first American woman to win a 100-meter backstroke gold in two consecutive Olympics. "It's an overwhelming experience," Natalie says. "It's something you dream of for so many years." Natalie talks about training since age 6, her experience at the Games and plans for the future, including her upcoming Napa, California, wedding in April 2009.

Gayle also talks with swimmer Michael Phelps, who holds the record for the most gold medals won at a single Olympics—he won eight golds in Beijing. "There were so many great experiences and moments that happened in these Olympics that there's no way I'll ever be able to forget it," Michael says. Gayle talks with Michael about his unforgettable Olympic experience, how he's handling all the attention from fans and the media and what he plans on doing next (kicking back and relaxing at his new house!).

Gayle also talks with Debbie, Michael's mother and one of his biggest supporters, about why she loves the Olympics. "All of these athletes coming together for their country—that to me is the most moving part."
