Although women may accuse their boyfriends of having commitment issues or of being "emotionally stunted," Rabbi Shmuley says women also are partially responsible for their rocky relationships. He talks about men and their commitment phobias, as well as the importance of slowing down relationships to be sure things don't turn too serious too quickly. Plus, Rabbi Shmuley shares five steps he says a relationship should go through to be successful.
Today's Shmuleyism: "Marriage is supposed to have a value-added component. It is supposed to add something to a relationship that wasn't there before. Too many couples today 'play house' before they are married, so that marriage becomes nothing but a formality. It is far better to allow a relationship to unfold gradually through the four stages, eventually culminating in marriage."
