Making little changes in the environment can have a huge impact on the overall well-being of our planet, says sustainability expert Jennifer Boulden. Gayle talks with Jennifer about simple things everyone can do to help the earth.
Jennifer says many people have the wrong impression about what it takes to be green. "It is about doing what you can," she says. "Some of the easiest things we can do don't require a lot of effort."
Jennifer's ideas for living a green life include simple, easy tactics that can help contribute to a cleaner planet for all of us:
- Remove the lint from your dryer regularly.
- Use energy-efficient lightbulbs.
- Recycle if and when it's possible…but don't worry if it's not a realistic option for you. "There are some things that are going to save you time and money, so if the recycling is overwhelming to you, think about purchasing products that you won't ultimately need to recycle—such as buying your own water bottle and filling it up," Jennifer says.
When we do one thing to help the environment, Jennifer says we are inclined to continue doing it because it feels good. "It is a positive cycle that keeps going," she says. "For the majority of us, we just want those fun, short ideas that are going to help us on the path."
