A bird flew into Dr. Robin's greenhouse recently…and as much as Dr. Robin tried to guide him out, the bird anxiously flapped his wings in vain. The bird flew round and round, and even though Dr. Robin opened the door for it, it took several tries for the bird to finally fly out.
Dr. Robin finds the bird's plight to be a metaphor for how we behave when we get ourselves in a bind. Sometimes we get ourselves into troublesome situations, and get frustrated trying to get out. Perhaps the solution is right in front of our eyes, but we don't see the way out because we're so anxious and flustered.
"You've got to work your way though the situation to get out," Dr. Robin says. "There's no way out but through."
