When you have a great relationship with co-workers, friends or loved ones, it can be difficult to see them move on to something new. Whether it's moving away from you to a new job or new town, letting them go can be hard.
While you may want to somehow make them stay with you, Dr. Robin says that's a big mistake. "It is dangerous—I mean emotionally [and] spiritually dangerous—to stand in the way of someone seizing their moment because it is going to have a negative impact on you," she says. "It's important to be able to bless someone to move on even when it hurts." It may take some time to move on after that important person is no longer a part of your day-to-day life, but Dr. Robin says the journey could be a blessing in disguise. "Maybe it will open up possibilities for you to create an awesome and an exciting life that is simply based on your dreams, your passion and your joy."
